Swap Swatches: Essie

There are a few brands here that are hard to get for me here in the Netherlands. Sometimes not that hard to get, but I happen to live in a country where everything is expensive. Essie is one of those brands where I can get my hands on, but they are ridiculously expensive. The cheapest price is € 9,95, just a little $13,35. The most expensive is € 12,95, which is around $17,38.

In a swap a while back with Nory I received the gorgeous School Of Hard Rocks, but in my last swap with Iris I could add 3 more Essie's to my stash.

The first one is In Stitches. The color will look different in some lightnings. It looked like a brick color at first, but it's actually a kind of old pink color. Really nice!

Tart Deco. This one was on my wishlist for a long time! For some reason I expected it to be more pink, but it was actually more of an orange color. A really nice color orange :)

Last but not least: Sand Tropez. I remember seeing this one on Tumblr and on the girl it looked like a lovely nude color. I guess the girl was pale, because on me it's far from a nude color :P On swatches on Google it looks a bit sandy, but on me it doesn't. Still a pretty color though and I would definitely wear it!

From these 3 colors Tart Deco was the most pigmented. I did wear 2 coats, just like In Stitches. I'm super happy Iris gave me these Essie's :)

Day 2 - Orange Nails

Day 2 of the challenge. Orange nails. I have 2 polishes that really are orange. I tried to take pictures of 1, but my camera didn't seem to catch the color. It would turn out pink. So I tried another polish; same problem.
On my laptop they were more orange, but still... So I have 2 orange nail polishes to show for today :)

This is Essence Just Shout! I remember I actually started a nail blog in I believe February and this polish was one of the few swatches I did.

This is Catrice's I Scream Peach! and is more orange than peach to me. All I have to say about orange polishes is that they're not really what I would wear, but only on Queensday or when the Netherlands is going for the World Cup :P

Day 1 - Red Nails

A few days ago the lovely Rebecca started with the challenge. I don't know who started it, but apparently this challenge has been around for a while. Some days I just live in Bikini Bottom and have no idea what's going on on the internet :P Today I read on Laura's blog it's a challenge for the month of September, so I figured I would finally start it xD I don't know yet if I'm gonna finish it, but I'll try my best!

My fingers look extremely white... :P

Todays nails; Red. This pretty red is from Catrice and listens to the name Bloody Mary To Go. This is actually the only red nail polish I own! When my nail polish addiction started (October 2010) Catrice and Essence were the only brands I knew. I went on the hunt for a red polish and found this one. I'm still looking for the perfect red and I think Essie's Aperitif comes close to it.

Color Club - Sex Symbol + Comparison

Today a sexy nail polish swatch of Color Club's Sex Symbol. Okay, not really sexy, but pretty sexy... :P A few days ago I swatched Color Club's Magic Attraction and this one is pretty much the same, but just silver.

Look at that bling bling... :O

Since the swatch of Magic Attraction was a bit rushed I decided I could show you again (on a nail wheel, cause I do not want that on my nails again just for swatching) :P

The first nail shows Magic Attraction, the second nail shows Sex Symbol, the third nail shows What A Drag, the fourth nail shows Sex Symbol over What A Drag and the last nail shows Magic Attraction over What A Drag.

If you don't want to layer Sex Symbol or Magic Attraction 3 or 4 times to get it opaque I recommend you to layer it over a silver polish. I actually think it looks better that way anyways.

I'm not sure, but to me Sex Symbol looks a lot like O.P.I.'s Crown Me Already, but Crown Me Already has chunkier glitters in it.

Color Club - Love 'Em Leave 'Em

Another polish striped off of my wishlist! This time it's Love 'Em/Leave 'Em. I remember seeing this a while ago while going through someone's blog. I wanted to order it immediately. But my favorite web shop didn't sell this one... A few days later I was checking the shop again and it was there! I didn't order it then, because my bank account didn't let me :P But last week I ordered it and I'm so happy with it!

Love 'Em/Leave 'Em is an almost nude, but really holographic nail polish. It's a great polish for work if you're not aloud to wear really OUT THERE colors.

I can seriously not keep my eyes off of it. I like it now, but I think it might grow even more on me when the fall and winter are here.

Oh hey there, holo! :D

I recommend this polish to everybody! It's just so gorgeous... :)

Color Club - Incognito

Incognito... When I first saw the bottle in real life I thought it was too dark. It looks like a light brown color and just not so nice. But then I applied it. The first layer was pretty sheer so then I was really disappointed! I applied a second coat and a smile got on my face. It was not so sheer and it needed a 3rd coat to complete the whole thing. This is just a perfect nude nail polish for me. I absolutely love it!

Incognito... Toen ik het flesje voor het eerst in het echt zag vond ik het te donker. Het ziet eruit als een licht bruine kleur en gewoon niet zo leuk. Maar toen lakte ik het eerste laagje erop. Die was behoorlijk doorzichtig en ik was echt teleurgesteld! Ik bracht een tweede laagje aan en een glimlach verscheen. Het was niet zo doorzichtig meer en een 3de laagje was nodig om het geheel compleet te maken. Dit is de perfecte nude nagellak voor mij. Ik vind 'm geweldig!

Catrice - Purplelized

Who can spot the purple in this nail polish? Because I don't! Maybe I got a wrong bottle...? :P Wrong bottle or not; I like this color! It looks kind of brownish I guess. I'm wearing it on my toes now and it looks different again. More like a dark grey... This bottle is just wrong! xD

Wie spot het paarse in deze nagellak? Want ik zie het niet! Misschien heb ik een verkeerd flesjes...? Verkeerd flesje of niet; Ik vind het een mooie kleur! Het ziet er buinachtig uit als je het mij vraagt. Ik heb deze nu op m'n tenen en het ziet er ook weer anders uit. Donkergrijs of iets... Gewoon een verkeerd flesje! xD

See those nice glitters? Love it! To me that is what makes the color more special to me.

Catrice - Dirty Berry

Today I've got the polish Dirty Berry for you! Like I've told in my previous post; I bought 3 new Catrice polishes and this is the second one I'm showing you. Out of the 3 this is probably my least favorite. I don't really know why, because it seems like a color I would wear. Even more than Forget Me Not.

Vandaag heb ik de lak Dirty Berry voor je! Zoals ik in m'n vorige post vertelde; Ik heb 3 nieuwe Catrice lakjes gekocht en dit is de tweede die ik je laat zien. Van de 3 lakjes is dit misschien mijn minst favoriete. Waarom weet ik niet niet, want het lijkt me een kleur die ik wel zou dragen. Zelfs meer dan Forget Me Not.

The polish has minuscule red, green and blue glitters in it.

De lak heeft piepkleine rode, groene en blauwe glitters erin.

It even looks a bit holographic sometimes! I don't own anything holografic, so this was kind of a new experience :P

Soms ziet het er een beetje holografisch uit! Ik heb geen holografische lakjes, dus dit was een soort van nieuwe ervaring :P

I don't know in which countries you can buy Catrice. I believe it's a German brand, so they sell it there of course. I think it's possible they sell it in Belgium too, but for other countries I honestly don't know. So I'm sorry I'm gonna drive you crazy with Catrice swatches someday xD

Wat in het stukje hierboven in Engels staat is voor jullie niet relevant, want in Nederland is Catrice makkelijk te verkrijgen :) Trekpleister en Kruidvat :P

Catrice - Forget Me Not!

Yesterday at work (I work in a drugstore) I bought 3 new nail polishes! Like I've said before; You can find the most boring nail polish stash in my bedroom, so I think adding these 3 were great to make it less boring :P I'll show you the first one today and the other 2 will follow in the upcoming days :)

Gisteren kocht ik op m'n werk (ik werk bij Trekpleister) 3 nieuwe lakjes! Zoals ik al eerder zei; Je kunt de saaiste nagellak stash in mijn slaapkamer vinden, dus deze 3 erbij zijn geweldig om het minder saai te maken :P Ik laat je de eerste vandaag zien en de andere 2 de komende dagen :)

Purple was never really my favorite nail polish color, but I have to say; I kinda digg this one! Oh, and on the first 3 pictures it looks like I have some tip wear, but this seems to happen to me when I apply my polish at night and wake up the next day.

Paars was nooit echt m'n favorite nagellak kleur, maar deze vind ik echt geweldig! Oh, en op de eerste 3 foto's lijkt het alsof ik wat tip wear heb, maar dit lijkt me vaker te gebeuren als ik m'n nagels 's avonds lak en de volgende dag wakker word.

I'm also not a great fan of glitter and shimmer polishes, but I want to change that! :P This polish has silver and purple glitters in it and is easy to remove from your nails.

Ik ben ook niet zo'n grote fan van glitter en shimmer lakjes, maar dat wil ik veranderen! :P Deze lak heeft zilver en paarse glitters en is makkelijk van je nagels te halen.

Essence Crackle Polish

I don't know for how long crackle polishes have been IN, but I do know that I wanted to own one when I heard of crackle nail polish a few months ago. In Dutch online shops they were always sold out and in the only drugstore in the Netherlands the whole Essence shelf was almost empty! But finally I got one! When I came home I realized I should've gotten the black one too, it was even there, since all the make-up was 50% off.

Ik weet niet hoe lang crackle nagellak nu IN is, maar ik weet wel dat ik er 1 wilde hebben toen ik er voor het eerst over hoorde, een paar maanden geleden. In de Nederlandse webshops waren ze altijd uitverkocht en bij Kruidvat was het hele Essence schap bijna leef! Maar eindelijk had ik er 1! Toen ik thuiskwam realiseerde ik me dat ik de zwarte ook had moeten kopen, die stond er gewoon ook, want het was toen 50% korting op alle make-up.

I first painted my nails in different colors. I like the effect better and it's less boring to me.

Ik lakte mijn nagels eerst in verschillende kleuren. Ik vind het effect leuker en het is minder saai.

 I painted a matte topcoat over the white nails to maybe get that same effect as my Black on Black nails.

Ik lakte een matte topcoat over de witte nagels om zo misschien hetzelfde effect te krijgen als m'n Black on Black nails.

On my thumb the crackle didn't really show up that well, as you can see in this last picture. Kinda weird, since my nail polish wasn't really thick there and I only put a thin layer of the crackle over it.

Op m'n duim werkte de crackle niet echt, zoals je in de laatste foto kan zien. Best raar, want de nagellak was niet dik opgelakt en lakte maar een dun laagje crackle lak erover.

Color Club - Coastal Creme

Last swatch of my Color Club polishes. Yup, 3 in total :P

This color seems very similar to Color Club's Pardon My French, but it isn't. The only difference between them is that this one is more nude and PMF is pink. This is not a nude color for me and I don't know if it would be if you have lighter skin. Because I have no idea what that would look like :P

Deze kleur lijkt een beetje op Color Club's Pardon my French, maar dat ik het niet. Het enige verschil is dat deze meer nude is en PMF is roze. Dit is niet een nude kleur voor mij en ik weet ook niet hoe dat zit als je een lichtere huidskleur hebt. Ik heb namelijk geen idee hoe dat eruit zou zien :P

I like this color, because it's the perfect light color. White just looks like Tipp-Ex, but this is at least some color.

Deze kleur vind ik leuk, want het is de perfecte lichte kleur. Wit ziet er gewoon uit als Tipp-Ex, maar dit heeft tenminste nog wat kleur.

I find that the color sometimes slightly changes in different lighting. The first picture shows most how it will look like in real life. And look at the picture below; I'm used to Catrice polishes who do that... What a fail :P

Ik vind dat de kleur soms een beetje veranderd in andere belichting. De eerste foto laat het beste zien hoe het er in het echt uitziet. En check de laatste foto; Ik ben gewend dat Catrice nagellak dat doet... Wat een fail :P

My First Franken! Mwhuahahah

Yesterday I came across Laura's blog. She has a really fun contest going on; Create a franken inspired by a movie or TV show. I immediately had something in mind and tried to do something. I liked creating something, but I didn't really like the way it turned out. It's a nice color, but nothing special. I'd like to share the name of it with you, but then you would know from what movie I'm trying to create something :P

Gisteren kwam ik langs Laura's blog. Ze heeft een leuke contest; Maak een franken geïnspireerd door een film of TV show. Ik had meteen een idee in m'n hoofd en probeerde iets te maken. Ik vond het leuk om iets te creëren, maar ik vond het resultaat niet zo geweldig. Het is een mooie kleur, maar niks bijzonders. Ik zou graag de naam delen, maar dan weet je gelijk van welke film ik iets probeer te creëren :P

SPARKLES! :P

 I used Catrice - I Sea You, Catrice - Sold Out Forever, Catrice - Blue Cara Ciao, Catrice - I Wear My Sunglasses At Night, Etos sparkle polish and Hema sparkle polish.

Color Club - What A Drag

My second Color Club swatch in a row! So since I only own 3 expect the 3rd one tomorrow :P

M'n tweede Color Club swatch na de andere! Sinds ik er maar 3 heb, kun je de 3de morgen verwachten :P

You see this color? See how silvery it is? It's beautiful! Another silver color I think is beautiful, but have never seen in real life, is China Glaze's Millennium. The difference between these 2 is that Color Club has glitter in it as well. So it's kind of a pain to get this off.

Zie je die kleur? Zie je hoe zilver het is? Zo mooi! Een andere zilveren kleur waarvan ik denk dat die mooi is, maar nooit in het echt heb gezien, is China Glaze's Millennium. Het verschil tussen deze 2 is dat What A Drag er ook nog glitter in heeft. Dus het is best lastig om eraf te krijgen.

The picture above shows some kind of purple undertone or something... I have no idea where that comes from. The only color you'll find in the bottle is silver xD You'll need about 2, 3 coats to get this opaque.

In de foto hierboven zie je iets van een paarse ondertoon ofzo... Ik heb geen idee waar dat vandaan komt. De enige kleur die je in het flesje zal aantreffen is zilver xD Je hebt trouwens zo'n 2, 3 laagjes nodig hebben om het egaal te krijgen.

Color Club - Pardon My French

Hi there! (I really need to start less awkward)

Today a Color Club swatch. At the moment I only own 3 - I should be ashamed - Color Club polishes. I do have a few more on my wishlist, but I have to edit my wishlist. I think I want way more CC polishes :P

Vandaag een Color Club swatch. Op het moment heb ik maar 3 - Ik zou me moeten schamen - Color Club lakjes. Ik heb er wel een paar op m'n wishlist staan, maar die moet ik weer bijwerken. Ik denk dat ik nog veel meer CC lakjes wil :P

OMG. see this color! I love it! It's a nice shade of pale pink and of course different than my other pale pinks. I should've compared this polish to China Glaze's Something Sweet! I can tell you, they don't look a like. Something Sweet has a purple kind of undertone, while Pardon My French really is pink, going to white.

OMG, zie de kleur! Ik hou er van! Het is een mooie kleur 'bleek' roze. Ik weet niet eens hoe je dat zegt :P Maar het is natuurlijk weer anders dan m'n andere 'bleke' roze lakjes. Ik had deze lak moeten vergelijken met China Glaze's Something Sweet! Ik kan je in ieder geval vertellen dat ze niet op elkaar lijken. Something Sweet heeft een paarse ondertoon, terwijl Pardon My French echt roze is, nijgend naar wit.

The application was kind of annoying... I would get off the access, but then almost all the polish got off the brush so I painted basically nothing on my nails... When me and the brush finally got along I still needed 4 coats to get it opaque! Plus, all 4 coats were streaky and got smooth after a topcoat.

Het lakken was nogal irritant... Ik haalde de overtollige lak van het kwastje, maar dan was bijna alle lak van het kwastje dus lakte ik zowat niks op mijn nagels... Toen het kwastje en ik eindelijk een beetje met elkaar konden opschieten had ik toch nog 4 laagjes nodig om het egaal te krijgen! Plus, alle 4 de laagjes waren onwijs streperig en waren smooth na een laagje topcoat.

I remember wanting to say more, but I seriously don't remember what I wanted to say... So let me just end with that I like this last picture because of the color. See what a true pink it is without crazy undertones?

Ik wilde nog wat zeggen, maar weet echt niet meer wat... Dus sluit ik af met het feit dat ik deze laatste foto mooi vind door de kleur. Zie je wat een mooie roze het is zonder gekke ondertonen?
